A collection of playscape structures that offer a gradient of possible transformations through PLAY.
PLAY: an act of creation, derived from given precedents, materials, and/or space.
PRECEDENT: an existing concept, mimicked exactly or varied upon.
MATERIALS: equipment, used as expected or differently.
SPACE: area to be moved through, boundaries upheld or redefined.
Each structure’s modulation of envelopment defines its space and precedent. The CASTLE and two TOWERS are only transformable at their bases, where panels can be attached to create new envelopments. The five FORTS offer a gradient of possible transformations through panels and struts that are more accessible to smaller children.

VARIATIONS OF PLAY, DIAGRAMMED / graphite on vellum with cardstock underlay / 19 x 24 in.

Precedent: straight vs. curved lines. Material: drawn vs. folded. Space: bounded vs. unbounded.

Players are invited to transform structures by adding or removing struts and panels.
