A self-evolving soundscape of phone calls between houses, generated from a custom random number-based algorithm and synthesized in MaxMSP.

TELEPHONE investigates the 'aliveness' of autonomous systems which seek to parameterize organic human behavior, questioning the paradoxical containment of life within mathematical boundaries. It also explores generative musical composition as the inversion of notation and performance. TELEPHONE's call logs (pictured below) function as notation-after-the fact: notation as documentation, rather than instruction.
